Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

All Math teachers in our school teach 360 math, which gets students up, moving, and practicing the math during the majority of class time. I would like to push all of my students to a new proficiency level by the end of the year. The students are hungry for two things: knowledge and positive reinforcement. I want to find ways to ensure my students are constantly praised for the things they do well rather than being focused on for the things that they struggle with.

My Project

A glass top teacher desk will allow furniture to be multi-functional. No longer will the teacher desk be a space that is "off-limits" and a useless piece of furniture to store stuff, but rather a space for students to increase their learning.

This desk will allow me to pull small groups and re-mediate instruction in the moment and in the middle of the room while other students are working at their boards.

I will use this desk to go deeper in the instruction to ensure every student is ready for success before being released. This desk will also serve as a location to further instruction for students who are more advanced and ready for a bigger challenge.
