Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The best thing about my class is that there isn't a typical day. EAST (Environmental and Spatial Technology) is a project-based class that gives students the opportunity to explore something that interests them, helps the community, and uses cutting edge technology while making a difference.
One thing our EAST Program does is support numerous programs in our school, as we are at Title I school and resources can be tight.
For this project, we want to obtain the resources we need to support teachers in our building taking students on "virtual field trips".
My Project
These materials are essential for our students to work with the community of Tontitown to create an interactive learning tool for learning about the cultural heritage of this migrant Italian community.
Through this project, students will be building an interactive touch table that will allow students to interact with historical models and watch student created videos created about this community.
The table and chairs requested will be the base of the display while the screen and electronic materials will allow the students to display the videos they will make and code the table to be interactive to touch with the food models the kids students will make with the help of a local artist.
This fun project is requiring students to research the community, interview individuals, create videos and models and learn how to code this table to work with touch sensors.
We know this will make it more fun and exciting for students to learn about the diversity of this community.
