My Students

Our class consists of 6 and 7th graders with special needs. We are a small residential school on Long Island, New York. We are a Title I school with limited funding.

My students come from extremely impoverished backgrounds and are ethnically diverse.

They are below grade level and are struggling in reading, writing, and math. They need academic help, as well as emotional support. They are a great group of students who are anxious and eager to learn. They desperately want to improve their reading and writing skills.

My Project

We are currently working on a project for Black History and need help in researching the topic. Our classroom needs this requested Apple tablet to help my students do research on their topics.

We are studying famous African American figures in all areas of American History.

We want to learn more in-depth facts about the important contributions they have made to our country. We have been researching famous African American inventors, artists, writers, and politicians. We're learning many new famous names and many names we were unaware of. So, we are learning a lot and want to share our book of knowledge with our staff and peers at our annual school Open House.
