Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is an amazing group of 7th graders who face many different challenges each day. We are a rural, K-8 school, where every child receives a free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students live well below the poverty level, but you would never know it from their positive attitudes. Engaging my students can be a challenge at times.
My goal is to provide my students with the technology they need to be ready for our 21st century world to be successful.
My Project
My students need to collaborate with each other using different resources and materials. One way I would like to do this is through student videos. I have seen this done in different classroom across America and the results of student growth is amazing. Students are going deeper into their understanding of the concepts.
Having a Samsung Galaxy tablet would allow students to record themselves and show their understanding, in a way that is comfortable and less intimidating than standing in front of the class.
Students will be using 21st century skills by using multiple ways to show their understanding. They will also show greater understanding of skills by teaching others.
Many of my students lack the resources to do these types of projects at home, which is why it is so important for me to provide these opportunities.
