There is a quote I have said in my classroom many times "Everyone is a reader, some just haven't found their favorite book yet". I have been teaching reading over the past few years and my students are learners that come from all different parts of the world! I love the diversity it brings to my classroom so that we all can learn form one another every day!
I love to see my students when they get drawn into a good book!
Trying to get kids to read is not always the easiest task when they have already decided in their minds that they hate reading. My goal every year for myself is to find at least one book or series that my students fall in love with. In this day and age all my students are all about the technology and I want to keep up with it and include reading!
My Project
With the way technology is advancing our students are spending more and more time with it. So instead of trying to do away with technology I want to invite it into my classroom. These tablets which are specifically for reading will benefit my students in variety of ways. There are many apps to enhance and intervene all my different ranges of students from working on phonics to listening to audio books and even apps where students get to choose from thousands of books titles from the tip of their fingers.
With these tablets, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to find a book that starts their love of reading.
That is what I strive for in my classroom. I want to encourage and set up a life long love of reading. Not only will it appeal to readers of all levels, it can benefit their comprehension aspect as well.
My students already get extremely excited when we have lessons that incorporate technology, but our classroom will be one of a kind when they get read books using a tablet!
