Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my 5th grade are hardworking, determined, and reflective. They love communicating their open-minded ideas and principles and inquiry is a key part of my school's community and culture. As risk-takers, they love trying new things such as learning computer science, conducting hands-on science experiments, and building things they've never created before.

The students in my school's 5th grade are learning to be the future leaders of a sustainable world.

They understand that something must change with the way the world works in order for us to have a green future.

My Project

This science camp allows students to experience natural science first-hand with all five senses. The students will be exploring the distinct ecosystems of local coastal mountains.

Our students hope to visit 200+ acres of redwood forest, mixed evergreen, and chaparral ecosystems in the Santa Cruz mountains.

As they explore nature, they will be enriched academically and socially as they see science come alive in the form of hands-on activities.

As the students leave elementary school and enter middle school, we hope that Outdoor Education will provide lasting memories throughout their lives. We hope this experience will inspire our students to be the leaders of a green future for the world.
