Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are learning a lot about Computational Thinking and about coding programs and Apps. Most of my students come from a low social stratum and can not have contact with devices at home, so the school is the perfect scenario to learn these fundamental skills for the 21st century. Throughout this course I have been learning about programs, websites and Apps to use in class and I need to continue my training to transmit it to my students.
Every time I show them a new application to use Computational Thinking or a new program to design with codes, their faces light up and they start to try and try until they reach their goal.
My goal this summer is to deepen my knowledge about coding and computational thinking in order to transmit it to my students during the course.
I have also thought about organizing after-school clubs where students of all grades can come and learn about everything that will be important in the coming years: the language of the 21st century.
My Project
With all that I am going to learn in this fabulous Professional Development, my students will continue their training on coding programs and their skills on Computational Thinking. We have worked very hard during this course and most of my students have an excellent base on which to improve and expand their knowledge.
The benefits of using Computational Thinking skills are numerous and my students have improved in their performance in mathematics and problem-solving strategies.
My dream is that all my students can continue learning new applications and programs and for that, I need to continue my training as a teacher.
