Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students consist of a Bilingual Spanish speaking class with a mix of third and fourth graders from different countries. They all come from low income families with limited resources. My students are motivated to learn even though they have limited life experiences.
Though they live in the poorest congressional district in the country, they constantly surprise me with their motivation and enthusiasm.
They are eager to learn and always have an inquisitive mind. I am lucky to be their teacher because I learn from them as much as they learn from me. I get to find the diamonds in the rut.
My Project
Our class is in need of ink, copy paper, and book baggies. These materials will help in providing my students with materials needed to reinforce core subjects during the last months of school as well as for the summer.
Many of the students in the South Bronx forget to read during the summer.
I would like to provide my students with reading books and packets to complete throughout the summer. These materials will help me in not only providing the students with activities but use the book baggies to provide the students with books they can read during the summer.
