Imagine having attention issues and being distracted by every sound, image, and movement in the classroom. Wouldn't a study carrel help you focus?
My special education students want so badly to feel successful at school.
Many of my twenty students have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), Autism, or a Learning Disability. They get easily frustrated and give up. It may be a tapping sound from a peer or just the sights out the window that take away their focus.
Sometimes a student will ask me, "Can I sit in the closet to read?", or they will turn their desk to face the wall. I often see a student try to make a study carrel out of folders and binders, but it always falls and distracts them more. With study carrels, my students will be able to focus on their assignments in my class. Focus leads to mastery of skills, which leads to overall success!
I can not wait to see how the attitude, comfort, and confidence of my students will rise with the use of a study carrel.
