This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All of my students are hard workers who are challenged with situations both inside and outside the classroom. I teach in a special education self contained classroom located in the CCPSD. I am a newer teacher to my school and am looking to provide the same type of environment that students in local suburban schools have. Our city is one of the most economically challenged cities in the country and I am looking to make make the biggest impact I can!

My classroom is very sparse and I am looking to have projects funded that will give the classroom a more inviting and comfortable feeling.

My Project

We are looking to create a comprehensive historical research project of the city of Camden, NJ. My students will research various areas of the city's history and culture. We look to take this beyond a traditional report type project and have it more of a multimedia project , using photographs, historical documents and video interviews with lomgtime Camden residents. We are hoping to have the finished project displayed in city hall and on the campus of Rutgers University. This is a project that my students are excited about. They will understand where there city came from to help shape where it will go!
