Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a first year teacher, there will be many new experiences in the classroom, including meeting my 26 amazing students. Most of my students will be English Language Learners from South Los Angeles.
I have no doubt that my future students are motivated learners who value education.
I envision my students coming to school excited and ready to learn every single day. It is my duty as an educator to create opportunities and equip students with the tools and resources to be successful in all their endeavors.
My Project
Since 2018-2019 will be my first year of teaching, I am accumulating items for my classroom that will benefit my students. I want to create a student-centered classroom where students take charge of their own learning. Thus, having a variety of seating options will allow students to choose a spot where they can focus and be productive on their work.
I am requesting bean bags, balance balls, and wobble cushions.
Students will carry their pencil boxes with them to each spot, which will teach them responsibility in taking care of their own materials. The 6-cube organizer will act as both a bench and a storage place for books. I cannot wait to transform my classroom into a place students call home away from home and where learning is part of the fun.
