My Students
As a teacher in a low income and high poverty school, my students are faced with many struggles inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the challenges they might face, they don't give up.
They are dreamers, thinkers, learners, and go-getters.
Their determination to succeed is what keeps myself as their teacher going every day. I know that I can't change their struggles outside of school, but I pride myself in helping them overcome them in the classroom. I strive to make sure at the end of the day they have all of their tools in their tool belts to be successful in life.
My Project
My students have science as part of a four day rotation. This means they go three days without having the opportunity to use their science skills. I am wanting these STEM kits to help my class continue to learn, but to learn in a different setting. These kits will be used when students finish class projects and have free time. They will be able to pick which activity they want to do and complete the task for that kit.
If I am able to have these in my room, they will allow my students to tap in and use their imagination and creativity.
They can come up with fun buildings to create, different airplanes and all kinds of animals to replicate. Their imagination and creativity does not get challenged enough and this will help support those skills.
