My classroom is a place where my students can take risks and explore learning. I want my students to have the opportunity to grow as learners and as individuals. It is my goal to make my classroom into a space where students can be creative and can try new things.
My students need a supportive and hands-on environment in order to be successful in the classroom.
They are an exciting and energetic bunch that can't wait to learn. I want the learning experience in my classroom to be an adventure for my students, and I want to give them every opportunity to explore and create. I want my students to learn perseverance, empathy, compassion, and teamwork.
My Project
My students need mentor texts to start conversations about emotions. Using these texts each week we will explore a new emotion and discuss its impact on our daily lives. We will have conversations about how these emotions can impact our day and learn about strategies to express our emotions in healthy ways. I want my students to understand that what they are feeling is normal and I want to teach them about strategies they can use when they are feeling different emotions.
I want my students to embrace their feelings and learn how to talk about them in a positive way.
In the current time when things are confusing and emotions are running heavy, I know that my students are feeling things that they may have never felt before and they may not know how to deal with these emotions. Having the tools to teach them about these feelings will help me to equip my students with the tools they need to take on the world, one day at a time.
