Our school thrives on building positive relationships through the use of restorative circles that allow students to bond with their peers and classmates.
72 percent of our students are economically disadvantaged and school climate is something that I would like to build for my individual students by welcoming them into a classroom that promotes love and relationships that will naturally build an eagerness to learn and grow on an academic level.
Students are engaged and happy when they feel a sense of home within their classroom environment. I bond with my students by meeting them where they are and working with them in a room filled with love, learning, and trust.
This area rug will give my students a sense of home while at school. Simple colors with bold spots allow for easy transitions while learning and also allows for personal space. Using a rug provides a cozy atmosphere that some of my students long for when they come to school. I would like for my classroom to feel like their home away from home. Adding color and brightness always brings a smile to anyone who would walk through the classroom door. While learning, my students have free choice where they work and learn. Having a central rug allows for a clean and cozy spot where they can stretch out to read a book, form friendships through restorative circles, and feel like their classroom is complete and put together.
