Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in a Title 1 school. I teach 23-second graders this year and I can already tell they have such a desire to learn! They are a busy bunch and they strive daily to be the best that they can be! Most of my students don't have the supplies to push their learning to the next level. These students LOVE to stay active in the classroom while they are exploring and learning new things. They are the reason I show up for work every single day.

My Project

This carpet will allow my students to gather comfortably together in one place as a whole group. We will have morning meetings here, whole group math and reading, science and social studies lessons. This carpet will be the heart of the classroom where we will come together as a class. This is where most of our learning will take place and it is extremely crucial that my students feel safe and comfortable during classroom lessons. This colorful classroom carpet will provide students with their own space during important classroom lessons and discussions. Our carpet will be a safe and comfortable place for sharing, learning, and of course...fun!
