Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have forty energetic and inquisitive three, four and five year old children in my preschool classroom. Although sometimes this can be a challenge, over time, the older students serve as leaders for the younger ones and help them through our days together in room 103. Some of my students are learning how to put on their jackets to go outside, others are asking me how to spell different words to write a story, still others may be mixing up a pretend birthday cake in the dramatic play center.
My Project
The carpet will be the center of the room where we start each day with morning meeting - a time where students greet one another, share important news, and complete team building activities. Preschool students should not be expected to sit in at tables all day. They need a developmentally appropriate area to sit comfortably where they are not distracted by chairs, supply bins and the hard table wood. The classroom carpet will provide them with an area that will enhance their learning experience. Having a large, circular rug will help define the focal point in my classroom for children to gather. A circular rug will also help us easily get into a circle for sharing, singing, and reading stories together. The carpet serves as the place where our preschoolers turn into a community of learners!
