Help me give my students a more comfortable and beautiful classroom with Active Kids Chairs, a Cricut Explore Air 2, and Gaiam Backless Balance Ball Chairs.
My Moderate Special Day Class has 7th and 8th grade students with a wide range of disabilities including, but not limited to intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and other health impairments. Along with the core academics such as ELA, Math, Science, and History, my students study functional academics through supplemental teaching, such as social stories and Community-Based Instruction.
My students are preparing for life as functional, independent adults.
In order for them to achieve this, they must have access to a variety of instructional modalities.
My Project
The students in my Special Day Class spend most of their day in one classroom. They sit in the same chairs and look at the same walls all day long.
The classroom should be a safe, comfortable, and visual learning environment.
Wobble chairs and balance ball chairs will provide students with seating choices and allow them to be more focused when learning. The Cricut will allow me, as their teacher, to create visuals to go along with our lessons, as well as display their work on bulletin boards.
Special learners need a variety of environmental factors to support their success.
