My Students

My students are from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We have a great mix of people who have spent their whole life as "Yoopers" and folks who have moved here from all over the country. My students are caring, curious, and want to know more about the world beyond our rural and remote community.

My Project

Our rural remote district is 1 to 1 for students which means each student has a Chromebook and they take them to school and back each day. While they have been excellent at making sure to bring their devices to class, there are occasionally times when they are in for repair or forgotten at home. Our staff was told today that there is only one spare Chromebook for students available right now (for around 600 students).

A spare Chromebook in my classroom would mean that our learning can keep progressing without any hitches.

By focusing on continuing the learning in English, French, or Life Skills, I will also be able to demonstrate to my students the value I see in their effort without setting it aside due to a resource problem. When the Chromebook is not being used as a backup, I am certain that many of my students will enjoy the touchscreen feature with the styli for practicing and creating.
