This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Teaching on the same classroom for a long time uses a lot of resources that need replenishing after time. This includes furniture, supplies and of course; books!
My students love borrowing books from me for home as well as for independent reading time in my middle school English Language Arts classroom.
I have always had flexible seating options to create a welcome and comfortable space for those hard to reach readers. Over time, my rocking chair and shelves have been breaking from, I'm proud to say, overuse. The supplies in this project would directly go to upgrading my classroom library and reading space so I can continue to achieve my goal of creating lifelong learners.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
