I am a passionate preschool teacher. I teach a diverse group of students ages 4 and 5. Many of these students come from low-income families who face many different challenges on a daily basis. My goal is to provide a high quality education to prepare them for Kindergarten. To do this, I need a variety of materials to enhance their learning and give them experiences they would otherwise not receive.
My students are curious, creative, and demonstrate a desire to learn through play.
While they are at school, my students receive a free breakfast, lunch, and snack to help meet their basic needs so they are able to learn. It is my job to give them a variety of learning experiences so they can explore, grow, and learn. Many materials used in my classroom are not available to them at home. I want to encourage my students to learn while having fun. I want to set them up for a successful life and love of learning.
My Project
Teaching in 2020 has brought on many challenges, including having individual materials for all of my students in the classroom. The real challenge began when we went remote in early November.
My students need enough materials to continue some of their school work at home, and I don't have enough for them.
These materials have been carefully chosen because they offer a variety of lessons with just a few materials. My students will be able to sort by kind, color, and size as well as create their own unique art projects and focus on building their fine motor skills.
