My students need copies of the book, A Snicker of Magic, binders, paint brushes, and all of the other materials to complete this project-based learning quest.
My classroom serves 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. My students love problem and/or project-based learning. We always use great literature to springboard us into a project. We dig deep into text, discovering details about the characters and where they live. They truly enjoy community service opportunities, so we tie our literature topics to our service projects.
My students soak up every opportunity to learn something new and thrive on thinking outside of the box.
Their love for learning is contagious and inspiring!
My Project
We will read "A Snicker of Magic" by Natalie Lloyd. We will use the glue, borax, and glow powder to make slime and the baggies for storage. We will use the bowls and spoons to enjoy the "Ice Cream of the Day." We will use the blue notebooks to create a word journal as mentioned in the story. We will use the canvases, paints, and brushes to create a "mural" like the one Felicity's mom made in the story.
Our project-based learning will follow Felicity Juniper Pickle on her many adventures around Midnight Gultch, Tennessee.
Be on the look-out for the "Beedle," as he or she sneaks in random acts of kindness into the community. What an exciting time this will be!
