I teach third grade in a rural community where small town values and work ethic run deep. The children in my classroom this year are extremely creative and inquisitive! They love reading, art and researching anything! They have taken their own initiative to learn about topics of interest and are always eager to share! For example, the girls in my class formed their own story publishing group, and asked our librarian if they would share the stories.
Moreover, they have been a group that is very caring and supportive of each other.
They have deliberately sought out ways to raise the spirits of those they have seen marginalized. They are all friends!
My Project
The CoVid Virus has cut our year together short. We normally read Charlotte's Web, and punctuate it with fun art projects and meaningful art projects to make it memorable. To top it off, our PTA parents provides our whole third grade with a "County Fair," complete with pony rides, cotton candy, face painting, and much more! Students say "it's the best day of their lives!" It's simply magical!
Since we can't do this, I would absolutely love to deliver a copy of Charlotte's Web to each of my students at the end of our remote learning year and include a note about the friendships we've formed, and the hopes and dreams I have for them!
