Do you think it is possible for technology to help us close the learning gap that students often face after they get home each day? Do you also believe that technology can offer my students, possibly your children, the ability to access notes and lectures from class at home?
My students are awesome!
I have never been around a greater group of students. They challenge me daily due to their desire to know how and why geometry works. I have students that create their own theorems, and as a class we try to disprove it. They are just normal kids in ninth and tenth grade. However, their desire to be positive and logical is beyond any that I've ever witnessed. I am blessed to be their teacher.
My Project
I am asking for a Smartpen, additional ink, and additional paper. With this technology I will be able to upload specific lectures ("pencasts") or specific problems that the students will face when working with their homework. These "pencasts" will be uploaded to a wikispace that I have created especially for my students. It is just like having a personal tutor in their home. In addition, it will allow me to reach any student who may have been absent that day, or someone who just did not grasp the lecture in class. The information can be accessed by any student who can access the Internet. It will not require any special material or technology on their end.
I cannot stress enough how much this technology will bridge the gap from classroom instruction to independent learning at home.
This will allow my students to continue to feel success and to go on to become very successful in life. I currently teach about eighty students. So, this one pen will benefit them as well as all of my students in the future. It is amazing that one Smartpen can make such a huge difference in education.
