Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a bilingual pre-kindergarten classroom in an industrial suburb of Houston. My students are English Language Learners in a Title I school in which more than ninety-five percent of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. I want to help my students develop and grow as much as possible during the time they are in my class.
My students learn best through play and hands-on experiences.
Most importantly my students are delightful and loving people who come to school excited and ready to learn. It is important for me to get them the resources they need to be the best learners they can be. I know that with a little support, my students will thrive.
My Project
The table I am requesting is just right for little learners. We will be able to fit a small group of up to five students. We currently have a very large horseshoe table that is too large for our needs. The big table takes up valuable floor space while much of the tabletop portion goes unused. Our room is a great size for a pre-kindergarten class, but this large table makes the room seem a lot smaller.
I would like to create a more functional space for our small group activities.
In pre-K, we teach math and reading small groups on a daily basis. Having this table will make a big impact on our space and in our learning. The small table will allow me to work with an appropriate number of students in a small group. This size table will allow me to reach and hear all of my students. In addition, our room will feel more spacious and more organized.
