My students need 100 sketchbooks for art class.

Anyone can be an artist! Some students say "I can't draw". A sketchbook is a great tool for every young artist. It's a safe way to practice and be creative. A real sketchbook in a student's hands makes them feel like the artists I know they can grow to be.
The students at my Title I elementary school love art.
They are enthusiastic about learning and trying new things. Once a project is over they always want to do more art. My 'free draw' paper is always the activity they want to do the most. A sketchbook for each of my fifth graders would be a wonderful way for them to express themselves. Many of my students are on free lunch and I can't ask parents for school supplies. All art supplies come from my budget. All of my budget goes to getting more consumable art supplies like crayons, markers, colored pencils etc. With over 650 students and a small budget, I try to stretch out the money as much as possible. A sketchbook would be a wonderful gift that I can't afford to give them.
A sketchbook for each of my fifth graders would be a wonderful way for them to express themselves. The fifth graders at my school are some of my biggest challenges. Most of the students that say they can't draw are fifth graders. They're at the age when they are very impressionable and are trying to fit in and be cool. What an awesome way to boost their confidence when peer pressure is very apparent. A sketchbook can be an artist's best friend, a teacher, and a confidant.
I can just imagine my students faces when I give them their very own sketchbook, and tell them it's theirs to keep.
No stapling papers together', no only one sheet per student-per day. A real sketchbook for sharing creative ideas, keeping class notes, writing inspirational messages, and something that tells them, "Yes, you're an artist". A sketchbook is something that I wish I could give every one of my students, and with the help of Donor's Choose I could.
