My Students

My 6th graders enjoy math class and have embraced the awesomeness of math, but are still quick to ask, “When will we need to know this in the real world?!” Please help me bring this cool math magazine into my classroom so students can see that math is EVERYWHERE!!! We are a Title I school in a small subsurb on the Jersey side of Philadelphia. My inquisitive learners will be impressed with these action packed articles about real world math!

My Project

Scholastic Math Magazines capture real-world math in action! “Each article applies math concepts to a high-interest topic and features motivating practice problems to build math confidence. You also get powerful print and online teaching resources that help you save time, integrate nonfiction literacy, and prepare students for high-stakes testing.” These magazines include online editions, teachers lessons, worksheets, online videos, and even games. Any chance for students to be more engaged in learning is worthwhile— add in technology and the kids are totally in! These magazines will take my students places that I cannot take them in a simple lesson! Thanks!
