This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a high poverty area. Every day I see that these are very determined and intelligent students. My students love to come to school. My students also love to read. I need to add more books to my classroom library. I have a waiting list for popular books and I would love to have several copies and to add new books that will interest my students. They would greatly benefit from this project. When they read something they like, they will be readers for life.

My Project

My students have become really good readers this year.

They all have broad interests and at times it is hard to keep up and ensure I have books that gauge their interests.

I had a student who read the first book of the Series of Unfortunate Events and she loved it. She really wants to read the entire series and I think if given the opportunity, she would finish it by the end of the school year. Yes, all 13 books. Students have been sharing the love they have for this series and now I have several students who are interested in the series.
