My Students
My students have a joy and passion for learning, despite any hardships they may face. I want them to continue to have a joy and passion for learning. My classroom is full of scholars who are excited to learn and explore the world around them. They need to be able to have experiences outside the classroom and make learning come alive!
Their bright and eager smiles greet me every morning.
They fall in love with learning each day. My students come from a low-income area in Savannah; sadly, the area has a high crime and poverty rate. Although this is a part of their norm, it is essential that they get the full benefit of an engaging classroom. School is one of their favorite places and is a safe haven.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of fictional texts from Dork Diaries, Captain Underpants, Beverly Cleary Series (Ramona and Ralph S. Mouse), Goosebumps, and of course, A Series of Unfortunate Events, for my classroom to use during reading centers. My classroom has a wide range of reading levels from students that need phonics instruction to students that are reading above grade level. These different series will help them along their journey to becoming avid readers. My students need a library Incorporating a variety of fictional books which will offer endless possibility of student choice. These texts will engage them and further their love for reading. The selection of book series was chosen with the intention of exciting readers to fall in love with the authors and continuing the series. Students will have different ways to demonstrate their understanding with comprehension during centers in their small group setting.
