My Life Skills students are passionate and love learning new things. They need a classroom that feels like a second home to them so that they can feel comfortable and secure while they learn.
My students are 7th and 8th graders with disabilities in a Self-Contained classroom.
They have different learning styles and needs, but each of them loves to learn! They enjoy group work and hands-on activities, and they encourage one another to be their best. They are an inspiration to me, and everyone who has the pleasure of working with them.
My Project
My students need more equipment in the sensory room for improved sensory integration. The kinetic sand provides tactile seekers with sensory input, and it can also be used as a calming tool. The chewy pencil toppers are a must for students who constantly need oral sensory input. The toppers will give them a safer and more appropriate chewing alternative.
When students' sensory needs are met, they are more successful in their academics.
The Trideer exercise ball chair will help students with lower muscle tone, as well as students with ADHD and Autism by allowing them to bounce and balance. The weighted medicine ball can help students calm down through the use of heavy work.
My students also need the toothbrush covers for sanitary storage when toothbrushes are drying out after they practice oral hygiene.
