This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember your favorite place to sit while studying as a child?
My class consist of 19 active kindergarten students in a low socio-economic public school.
All of the students are developing fine and gross motor skills; one in particular has Cerebral Palsy. They have a hard time sitting in chairs and staying focused on their work.
My Project
By providing the alternative seating for my students, I believe they will be more focused and comfortable. When I am at home completing tasks like school work, paying bills, or helping my children with their own work; I rarely sit up at a table. I find myself more productive when I am comfortable.
A lot of times chairs provided in the classroom do not fit the needs of all the children in the class.
There are always a few children that are much shorter than the others and a few that are much taller. By providing cushions and stability balls, no one student has to feel uncomfortable due to the sizing of chairs.
