Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

At Burroughs, our students arrive each day with a curious mind and leaves each day with great confidence in their abilities to lead in their very own communities. Our students truly enjoy learning, and working to solve any problem. But, the one problem we are unable to solve is durable flexible seating for thirty students. We are seeking seating that will be flexible enough to hold our little readers and our older readers. Also, we would like to have additional visual stimulation throughout the library using wall posters, wall signs and hanging banners.

My Project

Our library is in need of flexible seating. Currently, our students have the option of siting on the medium size story-time carpet or classroom chairs. However, as young, eager, and growing readers, the students generally want to stretch out and lay down while indulging in a good book.

I would love to offer my students a reading environment where they can relax, sit comfortably and simply enjoy a good book or two during their visit.

This is an awesome opportunity to enhance student engagement during their library visit. But it will also help further the library expectations and mission to create a loving learning environment that welcomes students curiosity and allows them to leave with confidence.
