Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from many different backgrounds. I work in a low income school but these kids come to school excited to learn every day. I want to give my students every possible chance I can to help them succeed. My students overcome many challenges to make it to school. Many of them have parents that have to work multiple jobs or in the fields tending to the crops. They still give 100% everyday and are excited to learn and share their new learning with their parents. It is amazing to see just how much they learn and grow everyday.
While I work with first grade students, I am trying to help build the foundation they need to develop a life long love of learning.
My students face each challenge with a smile and a "can do" attitude. Together we will learn and grow every day.
My Project
Please help me give my students items that can be used in the calm down area. Everyone needs a safe place to go and take a breath. My students need fidget toys to help them work through their feelings. They need the calming toys to help them work through what has happened and then return to the rest of the class ready to work.
We need a color printer to help bring color to our resources to life.
The students each have a binder with important charts and information. We need extra ink to be able to print their stories in color. Providing these in color helps them see the skills being taught in a new way. My students love working for the opportunity to pick from the treasure box. Please help me refill the treasure box with high interest prizes.
