My students need sturdy counter height stools, a shaggy rug, snake plants, kid-friendly emotions bulletin board posters, spiral liquid timer and conversation cubes.
My students are empathetic and take care of each other. My students help create a classroom culture where everyone grows and learns.
Over 75% of the students attending our school qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school serves students from diverse cultures. Our school strives to provide a safe and engaging place to learn and to meet the diverse needs of all our students. My students come to school each day excited to learn and to take on new learning challenges.
My Project
Our diverse students have different needs and learning styles. All students need to feel safe and welcomed in order to take on daily learning challenges.
My goal for this project is to create a warm and inviting classroom with flexible space to meet those different needs and learning styles.
The counter stools will be used at a table where students can stand to do their work. Our traditional student desk doesn't work for all students. The shaggy rug will create a cozy reading nook that doubles as a space where students can take a break. The snake plants provide purified air and nature is calming. The timer will help students be mindful of the time while taking a break. The conversation cubes and emotions poster will help us build classroom community and support social-emotional learning.
