Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so excited to start my first year with a wonderful group of second graders. Many of these students come from impoverished families who are striving to make a difference for their children! They often have hectic lives and at times, it's hard to focus on learning. Many of my students come to school hungry or have other obstacles that many of us don't have to face in life. This makes school even more of a challenge.
I want my students to value their education and learn to love school.
It gives them both an escape from reality and provides them with the opportunity to "break the cycle." Please help me help each and every one of these kids, to make a difference in their life and the life of their community. All kids can learn but for some it takes a lot more work to get there. Thank you for valuing and supporting children and teachers!
My Project
We like to start our morning together as a team on this new carpet. We greet each other every morning and build positive relationships during this time. Students can start their day in the classroom with a positive mindset. It allows students to forget about whatever morning they had and let them reset their minds for learning, fun and friendships.
This rug reinforces the safe environment that is created in my classroom.
It allows students to know that on that rug they are loved and cared about by not only their school and teachers but their peers too. Building conversation skills and learning about friendship and teamwork is essential for a well functioning classroom.
