Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Transitional Kindergarten students are the best! They come to school eager to learn new things. They are imaginative, independent, curious, creative, loving and resourceful! Our classroom is a happy, social, and active place that fosters teamwork, ownership, and problem-solving to achieve our high expectations. Our school is located in a low-income area with most students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Many of my students have limited resources outside of school, so school often provides opportunities they may not otherwise have access to. My goal is to create an environment that is inviting, positive, and supportive that encourages students to tackle challenges, take risks, and ask questions. Every child can learn and the best way to learn is in a fun, hands-on environment!
My Project
Too many years have past...it's time for a cozy, interactive new rug! Carpet time is an important part of our transitional kindergarten day. We learn social skills, math concepts, read books, listen to stories, collaborate with classmates, play games, sing, build, and dance during carpet time. Our current rug does not "fit" our happy classroom environment.
This classroom rug will brighten up my room and spark the curiosity of my students!
A classroom rug is something that can be used for many years. It would not only serve as a great classroom management tool, but it would help my classroom feel more warm and inviting. Thank you for in advance for considering my project.
