A Rug for Our Readers
My students need a new reading rug and set of soft seats so that they can spread out around the classroom. They also need a book stand and magnetic display case to easily access theme-related readings!
Twenty-nine of the hardest-working, most diverse, and chattiest members of the high school graduating class of 2025 can be found in my classroom! These fourth graders, 15 girls and 14 boys, come from a variety of backgrounds and speak many languages at home. In a classroom with a majority of English Language Learners, my students are working hard to expand their academic English skills. In a school of 550, the demographics of our students are a microcosm of the world and allow students to learn about cultures other than their own. However, with a free and reduced price lunch rate of nearly 90%, we sometimes lack the needed resources for success. Thank you for helping our scholars achieve their hopes and dreams, one project at a time!
Students will use the rug, book shelves, and seat cushions on a daily basis. From independent reading to partner work during math, having the ability to sit comfortably around the room helps scholars engage in learning in a way that works for them!
Student choice in the classroom is an invaluable tool.
From where to sit or what to read, students engage most deeply in their work when they feel ownership of it. With multiple seating choices and a display of relevant reading options at their fingertips, students will be motivated to engage in learning. These resources will enhance student learning and motivation on a daily basis.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
