My students need supplies and curriculum to make their learning exciting and hands-on!

Hooray! This project is fully funded
My dreams of being a teacher started when I was just a little girl. Making this dream a reality is only part of my story. Now I have faces to match with all the imaginary students I always imagined having. My goal is to make them each feel welcome and important in my classroom.
While the learning styles of every child differ, something they each seem to share is a vibrant curiosity.
The hands-on learning experience is one that appeals to almost every child. Movement and experimentation is something I wish to create more of in my classroom. Students learn best when they are the ones that get to be the teacher! I want them to take ownership of their education and to feel proud about their academic successes. After all, in an extremely high poverty area, that success might be the one thing that keeps them going and allows them to believe in themselves.
I am asking for a variety of supplies -- books, arts and crafts, basic school supplies, accessories like a fun, interactive world rug -- to help motivate my students to be engaged and invested when they walk in my classroom. While these supplies are actually only a small part of the learning process, it will help. Once a student feels welcome and excited about their learning, the rest can come much easier! With these supplies, my students will have opportunities to tap into that hands-on learning experience they each enjoy.
This project is personal for many reasons.
When I was a student, I never realized how much went into the creation of a classroom. This is partly due to the schools that I went to never expressing it as a concern. Maybe because it wasn't or maybe because the teachers were really talented at hiding the truth. Either way, I understand now the amount of work, effort, and material that goes into creating a successful classroom environment that motivates a teacher to teach, and a student to learn.
