This is my second year working as a teacher and at my current school. I work in a Title I school, where a lot of our students have a very difficult home life. A lot of them are in need of someone who actually believes in them, someone who encourages them to be something worthy. We don't have a 1:1 ratio with laptops, as a number of the schools around us do, and I think that is really hurting us as a school. We have a lot of children who are ESE or ESOL, who need that access to technology in order to thrive in school. My goal is to instill the morale, not only in the school, but also in the community. I want all of my students to feel how I felt when I was in school. I want them to feel wanted, that school is worth going to, that they can be so many great things in life! Any little bit that I can do for all of my kids, I'm going to work hard to do, because they deserve the world!
Technology is a huge part of students' lives, and yet it is a challenge to provide the opportunity within the classroom, as we are a Title 1 school. Due to funding and overcrowded rooms, it has become a struggle to provide proper technology time for the students.
I'm looking to help close that gap in the time each of my students gets to spend on the computer, focusing on reading fluency as well as math fluency.
I have such amazing students that really have a desire to grow, but it can become a challenge when the supplies are limited. I'm hoping this project will help especially my exceptional students, who are so intelligent in their own ways!
