A Refrigerator for the Biology Lab

My Students

My school has been considered a math and science school since its inception in 1957 and is still strong in STEM.

I mainly teach AP environmental science to 135 students who are highly motivated (generally!).

Many of my students will choose a STEM path in college, and pursue careers in these fields.

I also co-mentor the robotics team, and they rock! They always rank highly in competition and went to the World competition twice during the past three years.

Robotics has 37 members with half of the team being girls. I'm proud of this achievement.

I also sponsor the Science Olympiad group of students.

My Project

Imagine that you want to test the effect of temperature on bacterial culture growth and you don't have access to a refrigerator that works well. Or you need to cool off solutions before or after you run an experiment.

Well, this is a typical issue because we have an old refrigerator that does not close well and does not refrigerate accurately enough.

Indeed, many of the students are doing biology research which requires refrigeration of specimens.

With a new refrigerator, students will be able to accurately record data as many times a day as they need. They will be able to trust their results.
