I have the wonderful opportunity to teach such a fun, bright bunch of students. While we are a classroom full of different cultural backgrounds, I have such a tight knit group of students that make our classroom feel like a family!
In a time where we have spent so much time distanced from one another, my class has made up that difference tenfold.
I have the kind of students that claim they wish they could stay at school all day; that they wish we didn't have fall or spring breaks! They are so excited and eager to learn and build community with each other. And I am so honored to be the one who gets to facilitate their learning and help them grow as students and young people.
My Project
My school allows teachers the autonomy to gather the resources we see fit to teach our students and ready them for the next grade level and life outside of school. I have selected a series of books that will aid in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and help them work on social skills as well as internalized anxiety and stress they may feel in or out of school. Additionally, because of my opportunities to gather various outside materials aside from district selected curriculum, the drawers will help keep our class organized by quarter and subject.
My students show so much more enthusiasm and engagement when they are able to be near each other to listen and collaborate.
A rug that could once sit 24 can only sit 8. Having the additional mats will help make sure all students have a place near the SmartBoard as well as to each other while maintaining social distancing.
