My students need a rug sit on. I love having my students come to the floor to mini lessons throughout the day. The classroom does not have carpet, so a rug would be great.

My Students
Our elementary is located in San Pedro, California. The students at our school are a great group of students who come to school excited and ready to learn. Our elementary is a Title I school and is located in a high poverty area. At the school, 85% of our students are offered a free hot breakfast, lunch, and after school take-home meals. Our school is like a second home to my students. Just like a lot of students, they face many challenges at home. I want to create a classroom environment that is peaceful, fun, and inviting. A place that students can leave the outside challenges at the front door.
My Project
I would love to have a reading rug for our "meeting" area. My classroom does not have carpet. I love to have my students come together on the floor to teach mini lessons in different subjects, like writing, math, science, health, and social studies. I also love doing number talks with my students in our "meeting" area. The rug would also be used for individuals to sit and read, as well as small group reading time. At the end of the day, we sit together and share about our day before we go home. Currently they sit on the floor. I would love to have a rug so they would be more comfortable.
