I am a third grader teacher in a Title One school. Third grade is a difficult grade for many reasons. But, first and foremost, it is the grade where children start to read to learn, as opposed to learning to read. However, many children still need to learn several basics of reading, such as fluency and expression. A great way to show progress to children is visually. I have gotten my hands on a template for an electronic portfolio. This portfolio is interactive, and can store a child's progress for an entire school year, if not longer. My problem is I need a video camera that I can link to my computer. This video camera will capture the children reading aloud, and digitally process it onto the computer. Now, I can not only show children their progress, but I can store the video for the entire year. I will even be able to burn a CD for parental viewing. There are numerous other benefits, such as recording school plays and special events that can be gifted to the kids on a CD. Thank you for your consideration.
