My students need places to read comfortably. These flexible seating options and Keurig will give them a home in our classroom to read and give them books they want to read!
Living in a small town, rural area has many advantages and disadvantages. My students have limited access to the world around them. They are eager to learn and read about events and people of history. Really, they are just excited to read and have access to books. Having students at various levels and interest makes it difficult to find books that meet all their needs.
The students I teach are always asking for books and it breaks my heart to have to tell them that I don't have that book and neither does our library.
I want to be able to give them books they are interested in, so they can not only become better readers, but better students as well. They are the future of community, county, state, and world. The skills they develop in my classroom will benefit them and help them be world changers.
My Project
Students need to find a place where they can read comfortably and have books they are interested in. The butterfly stools and padded stools offer flexible seating, while the keurig is an incentive for students to read. The books and beanbags are geared specifically to reach boys. Statistics say that boys are falling behind in reading in every grade and in every state. I hope to create a place where both boys and girls can find books they want to read and find interesting. The books also need to be on their reading level. I want to create a place they want to go to read.
