Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our elementary school has recently welcomed several new students from countries all across the world. They struggle with learning not only a new language, but for many, integrating into an entirely different culture with a new way of life. They are eager to learn but need some additional support as they navigate their new realities.
My Project
We are creating a brand new Resource Room to address the social, academic, and emotional needs of our recently arrived international students to help them become more integrated into our school community.
The requested supplies will transform an empty classroom into a welcoming meeting and learning place.
Adding a world map acknowledges our international connections; multicultural books recognizes the contributions of all cultures; people colors art supplies shows respect for all people; and colored-coded organizers will aid our students to become more independent and self-sufficient as they navigate the resources of the classroom.
