My Students
My curious kindergartners come to school ready to learn. I love to see the big smiles on their faces when they have just grasped a new concept!
"The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go" (Dr. Seuss).
I teach 50 energetic kindergartners in the Dual Language Immersion program. My students spend half of the day learning in core subjects in English and half of the day learning core subjects in Spanish. We are a Title I school, as is evident in that 65% of our students who qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Our school is in the inner city with students coming from varied backgrounds. My students are full of diversity and together we make a wonderful classroom community! As a kindergarten teacher, I am building the foundation of my students' education. My goal for my students is to prepare them for first grade and give them the tools necessary to succeed.
My Project
As a teacher I print items out daily and our printer recently stopped working. We need a new printer to create things such as leveled readers, homework, weekly parent newsletters, student work and center activities. We also need ink and copy paper to go along with our printer.
When I am able to print books for students to read in color it helps to bring the story to life!
Students are able to make real life connections with a rainbow of colors. Colored paper lets parent communication notes stand out in students folders. These items will go a long way in providing for my students.
