Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living"-Dr. Seuss
My students have no imagination. When I ask them what they like to do, its always about playing this video game or that video game. Dramatic play allows children to experience the world, to work out different scenarios.
I teach English Language Learners.
They do not speak or hear a lot of English at home. I have set up a dramatic play center and they love it. They get very upset if they don't get to go to the dramatic play center. I found a puppet curtain and would like to add some puppets to my dramatic play center. I would also like to change the theme of my center to keep it fresh and exciting for students.
My Project
I am asking for puppets and a vet set for my dramatic play center for my kindergarten English language learners. Children are active explorers. Through dramatic play children discover new meanings and develop understandings. Imaginative play is one of the tools in children’s spoken language, children practice spoken language to negotiate, present opinions and solve problems.
I want my students to use their imagination.
Dramatic play is good for social, emotional, and cognitive development. The ability to pretend is important to children's academic success. When children pretend, they have to recall experiences they have and re-create them. They learn about themselves, their families and society.
