Our schools first prom cotillion dance.I teach all grades at our school. We are in a high needs community. We have a tight school budget, and the majority of the students come from low income families.

Last year we introduced ballroom dancing to our 4th and 5th grade students. They loved it, and expressed a big interest in it again this year. We want to have a cotillion which will offer a unique opportunity for our boys and girls. we want them to have the privilege to experience social dining and ballroom dancing. Throughout the year the students will have etiquette training for an enjoyable prom. They will learn both traditional ballroom dances such as, waltz, fox trot, and cha cha and contemporary dances such as, swing, line dancing and specialty dances. Our student council also suggested a prom cotillion at the end of the year. The problem we face is there is no money to buy certain things that we would need. Even with the students doing fund raisers we will still come out short. We want to give the children a prom they will never forget. A cotillion prides itself in offering a legacy of quality and personal attention every child deserves.

The one resource we need to make our cotillion a reality are paper goods. The purpose for the prom cotillion is to promote high self-esteem and standards, strong morals and values, continuous education, refined social skill, respect, service and friendship among young people. This experience is designed to teach each child the art of cultural and social grace. We hope this experience will enhance each child's talents, and help prepare them for life after school.

Your help will bring us a step closer to making this the best prom ever, and an experience these kids will never forget. The cotillion will provide an opportunity to modify any negative behaviors and attitudes learned on the playground and influenced by today's culture. Good manners are a prerequisite for great leadership. Just as a good education leads to competence, learning key social skills builds children's confidence and self-esteem, to become successful business and family leaders.
