This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school population is very diverse. We serve every child in our building with full equity. My school population out of 300 students is 50% Black/African, 20% Latino, 20% Asian/Pacific Islander, and 5% White. My class will be indicative of this demographic this year.
Most of my students come from poverty, as my school has the largest homeless student population in the city of Seattle.
Despite this they are resilient, prolific, and brilliant. They persevere through their life's circumstances. They will thrive.
My Project
We've had a printer in our classroom for many years now, and it is on its last leg. We have used it to capacity as a class. It makes our writing and artistry skill so much easier to display. We have to make deadlines for our classroom school paper. We also publish our different genres of writings including narrative, opinion, expository, fiction, and functional. Most importantly if the school printers are down, our teacher Mr. Black can still get us our homework ready to go. Thank you, DonorsChoose, you are great. We need our printer in our classroom for all of this.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
As a teacher-founded nonprofit, we're trusted by thousands of teachers and supporters across the country. This classroom request for funding was created by Mr. Black and reviewed by the DonorsChoose team.
