Third grade students love to learn! They are active, curious, and creative thinkers. We spend our year building our reading, writing, and learning stamina. Students direct much of their own learning each day choosing where to work and cycling through a series of whole group mini lessons and independent work sessions in reading, writing, and math.
One of my students' greatest delights is to publish their own writing!
Third graders are learning how to type and use editing tools in google classroom. Many are inspired to write longer and longer stories as they experiment with different fonts, font sizes and text effects. As they share their work and discoveries, they inspire each other write even more!
My Project
My students love to publish their writing! They are so excited by the opportunity to type their writing on the computer, use editing software to help make it perfect, select just the right font and size, and see their work fresh off of the printer. The experience motivates them to get their drafts ready quickly so they can get to their favorite part - publishing!
A printer in our classroom gives us instant access to student writing!
The smiles of delight and exclamations of joy upon seeing their work in print inspire others in class to have their story or article be the next one printed. Oohs and ahhs abound as everyone wants to see and read the newest text hot off the press. Students take their time carefully illustrating their precious stories, reports, poems, and persuasive essays. Students notice what others in class do well as writers and work to make their own writing even better. The promise of adding a color photograph or font effect makes the possibility of publishing even more exciting!
This printer gets rave reviews by educators and the ink refills will provide many classes the joys of seeing their words come to life through the power of printing.
