My Students
I am a second grade teacher at a public school in the Bronx, New York. My school is dear to me because it is my Alma mater and it warms my heart to see children that reminds me of myself. This upcoming school year I will be teaching second grade students with autism (I previously taught kindergarten). The ASD Horizon program is tailored to providing specialized academic and social-emotional learning for all students . I am excited to work with my students in September.
My Project
The use of a printer in my classroom will save a great deal of time waiting on long lines at the copy room to print work material for my students. Having a printer in my classroom will give me easy access to print work for my students.
My students benefit from flexible seating.
Having a ball and soft seating will help accommodate my students sensory needs. My students have difficulty sitting on chairs. Flexible seating provides my students with comfort and allows them to be productive in class.
In my classroom, we need more literacy centers. My students come from a range of academic levels. Having a vowel game will help my low tier students master their vowel skills.
My students have sensitive hearing and having wireless headphones will help them to block out distraction of noises in the lunch room and any areas in the school building.
